What to Expect

In a recent study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers confirmed the widely held notion that women prefer men with larger penises.

In a study of college-age males, 80% of erect penises measured between 5 to 7 inches in length. 10% were less than 5 inches and 10% were greater than 7 inches.

A congenital micropenis has an erect length of less than 4 inches.

Penis lengthening surgery has been performed worldwide for over 40 years.

About ½ of the penis is located inside the body and is attached to the pubic bone by the suspensory ligament. This attachment cause the penis to curve along the pubic bone and its release allows the penis to be brought outward in a straighter path thereby increasing the external length of the penis.

In order to gain length, the skin on the penis also needs to be expanded to cover the increased external length of the penis. A small horizontal incision in the pubic area is made and the skin is stretched using devices following the surgery.

No incision is made on the penis itself.

With the combination of surgery and post-operative stretching, gains of up to 2.5 inches in length have been achieved.

The gain varies depending on penis size, body build, and the amount of post-operative stretching performed.

In some cases, additional procedures to reduce the pubic fat pad with either pubic liposuction or pubic lift, or excision of the peno-scrotal web can be performed to enhance the results.

The surgery is done under local anaesthesia with sedation and lasts for 60 minutes.

You will likely go home after 3-4 hours after your surgery.

After the surgery, do not drive, operate heavy machinery, sign important documents or drink alcohol for 24 hours after anesthesia.

The incision must be kept dry until completely healed. Only sponge baths are permitted - avoid showers or swimming.

Avoid excessive walking, prolonged standing or heavy lifting for the first week following surgery. Exercise can usually be resumed in 4 weeks after surgery.

Sexual activity can usually be resumed in 6 weeks.

You can go to work after 3 – 4 days post surgery.

Some swelling and bruising are common after surgery and usually resolve within 1-2 weeks.

Your physician will prescribe antibiotics and pain medications to be taken following your surgery.

Avoid aspirin or aspirin-containing products for at least 2 weeks after surgery.

Avoid smoking until your healing is completed (usually 4 weeks).

You should be seen within 24 hours of your surgery for a check-up and instructions on post-operative dressing changes.

After that, you should be seen on a weekly basis until healing is completed.

Penis stretching exercises are usually begun 4 weeks after penis lengthening.
